Second Saturday Access Days
YES! ... we are open every Second Saturday for taking tours/outings/self-guided walks, viewing exhibits, enjoying picnics, appreciating art and history, and more. And, as of October 2010, we are also open EVERY weekend Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 10:00am-5pm in the winter and longer hours beginning in late February through late October.

That darned “Road Closed” sign! A member of the USS Boston Shipmates drove all the way from back East and could not get in to see the USS Boston Memorial in our Mare Island Naval Cemetery. Both he and we were heartbroken.
So we put Myrna’s phone number on the gate ... to lessen the chance that something like that would happen again ... and a few travelers from across the country have since called her to get in ... and a few dedicated volunteers decided to open The Preserve to the public once a month ... every Second Saturday.

Then we researched and made history, bomb, nature and art displays in the visitor center ... while cleaning, mopping ... and mopping again the building.

... all the while having fun.

... and the next Second Saturday Access Day more came.

We plan to have a different theme for each Second Saturday Access Day. Refer to the Second Saturday schedule by clicking here.

We hope that you visit The Preserve every Open Access Day ... to relax, have fun, reinvigorate, and expand. It is a refuge for our heritage and spirits.
Get Out and Go Live!
You will find more fun is waiting for you than you ever thought possible.
