We treasure sponsors at any level of support, for thanks to your generosity, our Second Saturday Access Days and annual Mare Faire (August) are free of charge. I believe the people of this region live here on the northern edge of San Francisco Bay because of many factors, including affordable housing within a reasonable compute distance from many of our larger employment centers. I also know beyond a shadow of a doubt, that wherever folks live in this regional community, they hold a deep appreciation for the spectacular place we call the Bay Area because of its remarkable mix of rich natural, historic, scenic and recreation treasures. After more than a century and half without public access, The Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve is rapidly becoming a “new” Bay Area spot people are talking about and visiting.

 

Those who attend the Mare Faire and our Second Saturday Access Days, are hungry to learn more about this historic site and the natural wonder it has become since active use by the military ended. I believe they already have a love affair with the wide open spaces and the secret treasures of the our historic and natural world. They come to the Mare Faire and Second Saturday Access Days to learn more, to do more, to gain a deeper understanding and to be a part of an exciting experiment we have going to ensure that the next generation will still be able to enjoy what we have come to love and cherish.
