Mare Island Aglow

Volunteers Michael and Gordon lit up the Spirit Ship this evening and what a magic night it was. The moon above, Mt. Diablo in the distance, the lights of the Al Zampa Memorial Bridge spanning the Carquinez Strait. Wow! Takes your breath away...there’s more to come as we make plans for our first ever Holiday Lighted Trail Walk the six weekends from the Friday night after Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day with a sneak preview Thanksgiving evening. Can you hardly wait to hit the trail?

I always wondered what the obsession was with holiday decorating, especially this early in the fall.  Now I know. I too have the bug.

Want to help? We need money to buy the LED lights since we have no electricity on the Preserve and we sure don’t want noisy generators. We could use batteries and inverters, volunteers to help with decorations and of course, greeters and hot chocolate servers and cookie makers and campfire tenders for those weekends. We hope this will put the Preserve on the map and get more people out to enjoy the great outdoors this season.

Here’s our flier and sponsor application. Please, please take it to work, to church, ask around to family and friends and pool your money to help us light just one tree in the Rowser garden, pay for one string of lights for the cemetery garlands and wreaths or maybe light one oak tree along the trail. Then there is the Spirit Ship. We will happily list you as a sponsor for any amount of $100 or more. Or for that matter, how about for any contribution at all?! And, thank you!!!!
