Daffodil Tea of Mare Island

The Daffodil Tea is a much anticipated joyful springtime event on Mare Island. Rest assured that we will hold the Daffodil Tea again this year on May 1, 2011. The Tea is now a part of this year’s even more special event,  May Day on Mare Island Springtime Tours and Tea. Click here to link to our page with details about the Daffodil Tea and the reservation form. Then go ahead and make your reservation for one of the two seatings at 12noon and 3pm.

We have been privileged to hold the Tea in Quarters C on Captain’s Row since 2004. We are delighted to inform you that Lennar Mare Island has once again offered Quarters C for our use for the Daffodil Tea for another year. We want to let you know that some of our key volunteers have faced serious medical conditions this year, so we would very much appreciate your support and your volunteer help. Maybe you would be willing to come for the noon tea and stay to help out for the afternoon tea or come early for the afternoon tea or stay a little later to help or maybe on a day before or after the Tea. There’s always much to do and we are so very grateful for even an hour of your time. Another way to help out is by your donation of a silent auction or boutique item. Thank you. Most importantly we simply want you and your friends to come out to our wonderful Island that is for all of us to enjoy! And, pray for sunshine!!!

We are making a few changes and want you, our loyal guest to know.

We have made some changes to continue to offer you a fabulous Mare Island tea experience while we save costs and our volunteer resources which are always in short supply!

  1.   For 7 years we have kept the price at $30. This year tea tickets will be just $5 more, $35, so we can hire staff to help out our volunteers or rent a tent for an outdoor garden party venue for the special program we are planning in the afternoon between the two teas. The price of your tea ticket is not tax-deductible because rather than being a donation, your ticket contribution helps us cover the costs of conducting this annual event and provides seed funds for the next year’s tea.

  2. Purchase tickets in person at the Vallejo Convention and Visitors Bureau, 289 Mare Island Way at the Vallejo Ferry Terminal, Vallejo, CA 945 or by phone with your credit card by calling 707-642-3653.

  3. To purchase tickets with a check or money order, mail your reservation form and payment to Mare Island Heritage Trust, 816 Branciforte St. Vallejo, CA 94590. Questions? Call Myrna at 707-249-9633 or leave a message at 707-557-9816.

  4.   There will not be a Chapel program as in years past, however, the Chapel will be open for tours 10:00am-3:00pm. In the place of the Chapel program, we plan a wonderful musical performance in the garden during and between the teas.

  5.   We have arranged for Fancy Ferriage by Horse and Carriage to return to the Tea. Tom and Connie Hodgson and their wonderful horse team will be giving rides along Captain’s Row to the public and you our Tea guests from 11:30am-3:30pm. Tell family and friends about the free carriage rides even if they aren’t tea drinkers!

  6. Write us an email note if you have questions, or call Myrna Hayes at 707-249-9633.

In the meantime, please visit our blog for photos of last year’s Tea, St. Peter’s Chapel stories and wedding pictures.

With our many thanks for your support and enjoyment of the Daffodil Tea.
